About the Program:
The Southern Valley County Recreation District (SVCRD) and generous local donors have made it possible for our local youth to earn their own kayak, stand-up paddle board or surf board! The Float Your Boat Program is designed to provide an opportunity for local youth to develop their relationship with the Payette River and Lake Cascade. The Program provides an opportunity for young people, enrolled in the Cascade school system, to learn about and experience opportunities for public service, problem-solving, and leadership development. The Program offers enrolled youth, who have completed Kelly's Whitewater Academy and a swimming test at the Cascade Aquatic and Recreation Center, the opportunity to select and “earn” river gear in exchange for an agreed-upon number of hours of approved local public service projects. After the participants complete the requirements, there is a special ceremony held to award the youth with their river gear!
